Frequently asked questions about PROVENGE treatment

BACK

How does PROVENGE affect PSA levels?

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing is a monitoring tool that can help identify possible disease spread (metastasis) and the need for an imaging test (eg, bone scan). Unlike other traditional treatments, changes in PSA levels are not an indication of how PROVENGE is working for you. In the PROVENGE clinical trials, the main goal was not to lower PSA levels—it was to extend life. Patients lived longer with PROVENGE treatment, even when their PSA level did not change.
